Myanmar, officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar formally known as Buram. Myanmar is bordered by India and Bangladesh to its west, Thailand and Laos to its east and China to its north and northeast. As of 2017, the population is about 54 million. Myanmar is 676,578 square kilometers (261,228 square miles) in size. Its capital city is Naypyidaw, and its largest city and former capital is Yangon. Myanmar is ethnically diverse. There are 8 major Ethnic Group. The government recognizes 135 distinct ethnic groups. The major agricultural product is rice, which covers about 60% of the country's total cultivated land area.
The National Council of YMCAs of Myanmar also known as Myanmar YMCA was established in 1951. There are 15 Affiliated Local YMCAs and 15 Associated YMCAs in Myanmar. Myanmar YMCA focuses on project work such as Sustainable Livelihood and Community Empowerment, Vulnerable Youth Empowerment, Foundation For Change Myanmar, Dala Urban Resiliency Project, Reintegration Assistance for Victim of Anti Human Trafficking and safe Migration, Safe Migration, Prevention of Human Trafficking and Community Development in Northern Shan State, Prevention Gender Based Violence and legal aid for vulnerable people etc.
