As part of its Youth Agroecology Project through the EU Youth Empowerment Fund Network Solutions, YMCA Zambia has completed a hands-on agroecology and organic farming training for young people in Lukolongo Ward, Kafue District.
The training focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills in:
- Sustainable farming practices that work with natural systems
- Benefits of organic farming for soil health and food security
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Techniques to reduce chemical use while boosting crop productivity
A key outcome of the training was the creation of a demonstration garden, which will be managed organically by young people. This garden will serve as a learning space and a model for sustainable food production in the community.
