From 23-27 September 2024, the Africa Renaissance Hub in Nairobi hosted the Climate Games Bootcamp, an initiative by the Africa Alliance of YMCAs in partnership with ThinkPlace, Africa Wildlife Foundation, and local YMCA branches across Kenya, Namibia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Zimbabwe.

This event brought together young people to collaborate and develop innovative solutions to address the challenges of climate change. Utilising games and gamification techniques, the Climate Games Bootcamp aimed to mobilise community action, enhance climate literacy, and collect data for policy development. With over 12,000 young participants expected to benefit in the coming months, the Bootcamp provided a crucial foundation for these emerging leaders to take meaningful action within their communities.

Four members of YMCA Namibia, which was founded only two years ago, share their experiences. Their reflections highlight the skills they gained and their commitment to climate action.

Read their stories and learn more about their journey and passion for protecting our environment.
