Appeal for support for internally displaced Lebanese families
1 October, 2024
YMCA Lebanon is urgently appealing for support to address the growing humanitarian crisis caused by the escalating conflict in southern Lebanon. More than 211,000 people have been displaced, many without access to basic necessities such as shelter, clean water, and food. The situation on the ground is dire, and we need your help to continue providing life-saving aid to those affected. Your donations will help provide essential medical supplies, food, and psychosocial support to the most vulnerable, including children and the elderly.
Join us in making a difference for these families during their time of need. YMCA Lebanon seeks over USD 900,000 to support these and other activities.
This is a substantial sum of money and across the YMCA Movement we seek the mobilisation of all our networks – government, business, foundations and more – to help fund this lifeline work.
Background
The ongoing violence in southern Lebanon has resulted in the mass displacement of families, forcing them to flee their homes with little more than what they can carry. Communities have been devastated, and access to clean water, shelter, and essential services has been severely disrupted. Children and the elderly are particularly at risk in this unstable environment. The conflict has also created significant challenges for humanitarian organizations trying to deliver aid, with logistical and security issues further complicating relief efforts. This crisis demands an immediate and coordinated response to prevent further suffering.
YMCA Lebanon Response
YMCA Lebanon has been on the ground from the onset of the crisis, providing critical humanitarian assistance. Our teams are delivering medical supplies, food, clean water, and psychosocial support to displaced families. We are focusing on the most vulnerable populations, ensuring that children, the elderly, and those with urgent medical needs receive prompt care. Through our wide-reaching network, we are working closely with local communities and international partners to maximize the impact of our efforts. However, the scale of the crisis requires greater support to continue and expand this essential work. Your contribution can help us reach more people in need and provide a lifeline to those suffering from the conflict.
